Mail scanning in Croatia: what happens to each letter

Mail scanning in Croatia turns a paper letter at your Zagreb address into a file you can read on screen. You do not need to collect it.

It comes with the "Scan" plan. "Start" stops at an email notice. This page follows one letter from arrival to your screen.

One letter, step by step

A letter arrives at Gajeva 6, Zagreb. You get an email to say so. With "Scan", the letter is then opened and scanned, and the scan reaches you by email. With "Start", you get the notice only.

Ask which email address the notice goes to, so it does not land in an inbox nobody reads. Agree a rule for junk mail too: throw it away without a notice, or tell you about every item.

Opening an envelope on your behalf

Scanning means someone opens your mail. Say in your enquiry which senders may be opened and which letters should stay sealed.

Your letters may hold contracts, tax notices and bank mail. Ask how long scans are kept and how you delete one. This page cannot promise what a plan has not stated, so ask in writing and keep the answer.

Official letters and registered mail

Letters from Croatian authorities and courts arrive in Croatian. Neither plan promises to sign for registered mail, in Croatian preporučena pošiljka. Ask what happens to official letters before you rely on the address.

Decide who reads such a scan, and tell your accountant.

Forwarding paper post

Neither plan includes forwarding, and no price for it is set. Ask before you rely on it.

How many letters fit in a month

"Scan" covers up to 30 items a month. Items are counted, not pages, and how many pages one item may have is not set.

Count last year's post and add a margin. If you expect a burst, like annual tax letters, say so in your message.

Common questions

How will I know a letter has arrived?

You get an email notice. Ask how it is sent and give the email address you want it to go to.

Can every letter be scanned?

Only with "Scan", which opens and scans incoming mail, up to 30 items a month. "Start" does not scan. List the senders you expect in your enquiry.

What does scanning cost?

"Scan" is EUR 65 + VAT a month, or EUR 399 + VAT for 12 months paid up front. "Start", with notices only, is EUR 45 + VAT a month or EUR 299 + VAT for 12 months.

What if a letter is not in English?

A scan shows the letter as it arrived, which in Croatia usually means Croatian. Plan for someone who reads the language, or a translation tool.
